What are these American christians doing? Please explain?

I am not religious,so I don't know what they are doing, but there is this American Christian thing that comes on at 3am and I am watching it now..I am in Australia..There is this man with white hair talking on stage and he touches these people and then they faint, and then are cured from their disease or sickness, is that actually real and why do they faint?Please explain..
